In this collection of short stories, Miranda Hoplaros recreates childhood scenes set in Rhodesia in the 1970’s. As the daughter of Greek Cypriot shop owners, Miranda recounts the story of boarding school abandonment, a mother-daughter relationship, an immigrant experience and civil war. Tsis touching yet playful account experiments with form, illustration and language. It challenges our perceptions of memory, reality, history, geography, lies and truth. Miranda engages in a broad range of subjects in an attempt to find reasons for the letters she didn’t receive from her parents and the African landscape she was thrown into, but never fully understood.
