Description

The late Benedict (Father Paul) Englezakis died young at the age of 45 in 1992, and was thus unable to complete the full history he intended. He left behind him, however, 20 important articles on various aspects of the history of the church of Cyprus, from the time of its foundation up to the end of Ottoman domination and the British presence; these are gathered together in this work. Several of the papers, some delivered as lectures, are here published for the first time; others have been specially translated for this volume. They are preceded by a 20-page introduction, in which the author, before his death, reviewed his work and analysed contemporary scholarship on the subject.
