“The editors of this publication are to be congratulated for their initiative in undertaking the first comprehensive and authoritative guide-book designed for visitors to Cyprus. Others have catered for antiquarians and numerous official publications serve the needs of those who come to the Island for commercial and kindred purposes. But The Island of Cyprus, by combining with the usual functions of a guide-book much useful information on a variety of subjects likely to arouse the visitor’s interest, and by offering an exceptionally generous range of photographs, breaks new ground and fills a real need.
The revision of certain chapters which I have undertaken has led to many agreeable discussions with the editors and particularly Mr. Haig Mangoian. He has been at pains to include in his team of collaborators only those well-placed to speak with authority, and in planning and co-ordinating the various contributions has spared no effort to make the book as useful as possible.
As a photographic firm specializing in subjects of interest to tourists, the name of Mangoian is already familiar to many who have visited Cyprus; in this new and useful enterprise, by which I do not doubt that they will add to their reputation, I wish them every success.”
