The story is set in modern day Paphos, but mentions many popular landmarks. The story tells of the threat posed to the local cat communities by some particularly nasty rats that fled from a burning ship near Limassol, swam ashore and made the town there home until there was too many of them for comfort. At a deeper level, the book looks at 'the Cyprus Problem' and gives a possible solution.
