Description

CAIN: They told us that the Law exists. They never explained why we must obey it, or what it stands for; they only said that the Law must be upheld. So we bow our heads before the Law. We dutifully obey its decrees. We abide by the Law so we can sleep easily. Still, in our dreams we escape as live as free men in lawlessness.
MEPHISTOPHELES: Run, John, hide! Just like in the cavern, when you writhed in agony and terror, carving your verses on the bare rocks with your nails; when you praised the angel of Gnosis with your sobs; when you wanted to offer me your soul.
