Description

Aphrodite’s coastal plain from Mandria to Akrotiri has many interesting locations worth a visit and walking is definitely the best way to see them. We have described 19 circular trails that would suit all the family. Children, youngsters; folks who are uncertain if they are middle-aged yet; and those who refuse to grow old and want to enjoy every day that they can. There are lots of tavernas all over the place if you need to replace those calories-but do take some water with you-and borrow a dog! The walks are listed from Mandria in the west to Akrotiri in the east and each one is about 5kh or 90min at a comfortable strolling pace, give or take a pause to admire the views. The going is mainly flat but Cyprus can be a wee bit bumpy, so if the trail does have an occasional slight incline just take it gently, like chameleons do. These harmless tiny creatures look all around when they are walking, blend in with the environment, and keep very quiet so as not to disturb others. You don’t racing past are just showing off in front of the casual but dignified walking pace of chameleons! Geoff & Dorris Fryatt, October 2011
